I bought a CD/DVD player on EBAY that had a pcmcia connector to it to work with my Tablet PCs.

The Player came with this PowerDVD software which, in effect, accomplishes the DVD player function through software. The PowerDVD system requirements were too high for the table PC that I was using, so I loaded the software onto my desktop pc. So, in effect, I can play DVD movies on my desktop computer with the PowerDVD software and my CD/DVD player.

This solution is not perfect, at least on my equipment, there is a stop and go from one segment of the DVD to the other. But, at the time, this was a very cost effective way to get a DVD player. I actually wasn't even interested in a DVD player, I didn't have any DVDs. I bought the player solely because I needed a cd player with a pcmcia connector on it to use with my Tablet PCs. So, from where I sat, this purchase was like getting a DVD player for free.

I have two CNF DVD Players that I bought on Ebay cheap because CNF went out of business.

The players have pcmcia connectors on them so I can use them as cd players with my Tablet PCs and I can use them as CD and DVD players on my desktop machine.

The older Tablet PCs that you can buy on ebay are such a great buy because they are cheap and almost everything associated with is cheap. And these machines run standard Windows 95 and 98, so everything kind of software you have for your desktop will run on these machines.

In fact, I cloned the hard drive in my desktop PC, added pen services and put the hard drive in one of my Stylistic 1200 Tablet PCs. I have a clone of my desktop PC in a Tablet PC

another shot. I don't know why the pcmcia connect is in this top of this player. Maybe it is some way of storing the connector so it is not damaged.

CNF Universal Port Expansion

Another CNF thing I bought on Ebay (I think I actually have three of these) is a port expander.

The "problem" with the Fujitsu Point 510 tablet PC was that it only had one pcmcia connector.

The CNF Port Expander connected to the PCMCIA and it provided you with a way to connect a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse and a printer to the Tablet PC AND it also had a built in network connector. Very neat.
